Fly Duba Fly
Week 5

Well folks, this is my first crack at reviewing the previous day's Eagles game. I want to make this a new feature of the World of Duba. This should be like my old movie reviews or music reviews. However, due to insufficient funds I cannot make it to the movies like that anymore nor could I review whole CDs anymore because I love downloading. I guess I will have to do product reviews. Any way, on to the game.

Things started out kind of scary with a McNabb fumble and I thought his arm would have been hurt from how he bent when he got hit. I also was extremely impressed with Hank Baskett as he was about to make a catch, but then he fell on the ball and appeared hurt. Thankfully, it was just getting the wind knocked out of him that kept him down. Another scary moment that I must admit was also spectacular was Drew Bledsoe's touchdown run. He dove, like a kamikaze, into the endzone and got hit by three (3) different Eagles. That was crazy. I did not expect him to get up. The Eagles were down but for some reason I was not worried. TO did not even get one look and I would have to agree with the announcers that Owens' inactivity actually made the crowd mild in what you would expect. However, things would pick up.

The Eagles were down at half-time, and again for some reason I was not worried. All of a sudden, the defense just became INVINCIBLE. It was unbelievable with the pass rushing ultimately hurting Bledsoe's performance. I could not believe that from all I heard about how the Eagles defense was hurting and not as good in the secondary anymore how unrealistic of a statement that was. Reggie Brown stepped up big time for a catch to go ahead 24-21. Then it felt like a repeat of week 2 against the giants when the Cowboys drove down to score a field goal. Yeah I was happy about only a field goal, but the fact they got down there was a little worrying. But then, first play, BAM! an 80 something yard catch by Baskett to make it 31-24. I was so syched by this point I was standing. Then, with not much time left in the game, I thougth Bledsoe was going to fall short again, but then out of nowhere they make it to the one yard line. My heart sunk and I felt like shitting myself. Then, a pass was intercepted by the returning Lito Sheppard. Lito, obviously tired from running from the endzone to the opposite endzone, stopped almost and appeared he would walk it in. Thank God he decided to run a little more. That was it.

The big story yesterday was supposed to be about TO and his return. He had a police escort from Mount Laurel to the Linc. Nothing happened. Then, with TO basically being a decoy for Terry Glen. Then, the second half happened. TO got anywhere between 9 and 12 looks (i heard a bunch of different statistics). The first "look" I guess was an intentional grounding by Bledsoe who threw to where TO was at the beginning of the play. TO , on most of his other looks, did not appear to even try. He could see the hits coming, and backed off the catch. After a couple attempts at TO, when they went to the sidelines, the crowd started it. Set to the tune of the old "TOOOOOOOOOO TO TO TO TOOOOOOO TOOOOOO" song, they sang "ODDDDDDDDDDD OD OD OD ODDDDD ODDDDD". Yes. That was awesome. I joked about how it would be funny if he killed himself during the game (c'mon people, it's a joke). Rub it in that hotshot's face. I admit, I was happy as Hell when TO played for the Eagles. He is gutsy. His Superbowl return was awesome, but the following year showed his true colors. I am just glad to not be one of those "Oh I knew he was trouble from the beginning" people who rooted for him and gave him all the hoopla and circus TO expects to receive.

On another note, the cameras kept focusing on TO yelling at his team. You know what, I do not think TO was just being an asshole. Maybe it was partly selfish on his part, but we can only assume that based on his prior ego trips. I really doubt that no other team has their own players yelling at them. TO will not be talked about like this again until Christmas day when the Cowboys host the Eagles.

LOOKING FORWARD
Now, next week the Eagles go the New Orleans. Now, Drew Brees has been the one football player who has stuck out in my mind since even before I rooted for the Eagles (I jumped on the bandwagon but I cannot ever imagine jumping off of it. I even enjoyed last year. Each team will have its ups and downs). He is my favorite non-Eagle player. Last year when with San Diego he struggled (Why is he always on teams from towns with two word names?) against the Eagles. He had Gates and Tomlinson, but still could not get the job done. I have Brees in my fantasy team (three years going now) along with Reggie Bush. However, in loyalty to the Eagles I will sit them. I do not think they can get the job done this time around. Yes, the Saints are doing great in my opinion. I actually cheered another team other than the Eagles when they played Atlanta. I was happy for Brees to have success outside of San Diego, a team that many people would think is better than his current team at this point last year. I think it will be tough, but, based on no real knowledge of football whatsoever, the Eagles will win 24 to 14.
